Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program and Student Engagement

What Is Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program? The Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program helps youth: Overcome their nervousness Organize and present effective presentations Develop their impromptu speaking and listening skills Learn to deliver positive feedback to encourage others Participate in and lead meetings

Arizona College and Career Readiness Skills The standards are designed to ensure that our students remain competitive in the global market of the 21st century.

Student Engagement Everyone has a role. Roles rotate week to week. Toastmasters = full engagement Roles include: Toastmaster Speakers Evaluators Table Topics Word Master The “Ah” Counter General Evaluator

Toastmaster Structure Students are given responsibilities to include preparing/critiquing speeches Speeches are both formal and informal Formal speeches are prepared in advance (3 minutes) Informal speeches are based on an impromptu topic (1 minute) – Table Topics Speeches are evaluated
