My Position The “afflicted” girls were faking so they could get attention.

History of the Salem Witch Trials Salem is settled in 1626 by Puritans [2] Tituba, a slave from Barbados (who was Native American, not black) [3], begins telling stories of “magic and sorcery” [1] to Betty Parris (nine-years-old) and Abigail Williams (11-years-old), the girls of the Parris family Word spread to other girls in Salem Village, and six more girls joined the group called “the circle girls” [1]

History Continued… Betty Parris began to feel guilty and she started to act odd Eventually, all the girls were so guilt ridden that they told the priests that Tituba had bewitched them, as well as Sarah Goode, who was a beggar, and Sarah Osborne Tituba confesses to being a witch, Goode was hung, and Osborne died in prison [4] Many more people were tried and killed

My Evidence Women were supposed to be seen not heard At trials, the only evidence they had was the word of these girls The girls had never gotten attention like this
