What about cutting/Scraping/Scarring…..

What about cutting/Scraping….. Statistics on teen cutting are hard to come by because so few studies have been done on the subject. Broad estimates are that about one percent of the total U.S. population, or between 2 and 3 million people, exhibit some type of self-abusive behavior. But that number includes those with eating disorders like anorexia, as well as those who self injure. A 2002 study published in the British Medical Journal estimated that 13 percent of British 15- and 16-year-olds purposely injure themselves. http://www.teenhelp.com/teen-health/cutting-stats-treatment.html as taken October 2015

Cutting From a different source…. Each year, 1 in 5 females and 1 in 7 males engage in self injury 90 percent of people who engage in self harm begin during their teen or pre-adolescent years http://www.teenhelp.com/teen-health/cutting-stats-treatment.html as taken October 2015

Cutting From a different source…. Nearly 50 percent of those who engage in self injury activities have been sexually abused Females ---comprise 60 percent of those who engage in self injurious behavior About 50 percent of those who engage in self mutilation begin around age 14 and carry on into their 20s Many of those who self injure report learning how to do so from friends or pro self injury websites http://www.teenhelp.com/teen-health/cutting-stats-treatment.html as taken October 2015
