ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS. What is an electric current? An electric current is a flow of electrons through wires and components. + - In which direction does.
Comes from Latin word that means, “to go around.” A circuit is a path provided to allow electrons to flow. A circuit allows the energy from a power.
What is Voltage? Remember, current is the flow (per second) of quantities of electrons past a point in a circuit. if 0.1 C of electrons pass this place.

Explaining Electricity L/O – To understand how models can be used to explain electricity

What are the symbols for these components? Voltmeter Ammeter Bulb Switch Cell Battery

How is a power station like a battery? Mine = Battery The mine provides coal which powers the power station The battery give the electrons the energy Trucks = Electrons The trucks carry coal to the power station The electrons carry electricity around the circuit What represents the battery? What represents the bulb? What represents the wires? What represents the electrons? Power station = Bulb The coal allows the power stations to work The energy carried by the electrons lights the bulb The empty trucks return to the mine to pick up more coal The electrons return to the battery to pick up more energy

How is a power station like a battery? What would happen if you added another mine? What does this tell you about adding more batteries? What would happen if you added another power station? What does this tell you about adding more bulbs? How could you represent a bulb? How could you measure the energy the electrons are carrying? How could you measure the amount of electrons flowing around?

Once you have designed your model, explain what would happen if you Task Your task is to design your own model for electricity Once you have designed your model, explain what would happen if you Added a switch Added another battery Added another bulb Made it into a parallel circuit
