Does Light Pass Through? Some things let light pass right through them. Some things let only some light pass through them. Some things do not let any light pass through.

Transparent Light passes right through things that are transparent. glass plastic wrap water

Translucent Some light passes through things that are translucent. wax paper copy paper tissue paper

Opaque Light cannot pass through things that are opaque. foil cardboard wood

Discuss with your teacher. Can you think of time when you would want an object to be: transparent (all light goes through)? translucent (some light goes through)? opaque (no light goes through)?
