Question Answer Relationship ?

Have you ever taken a test and noticed that some questions are easier to answer than others?

Have you ever read a question and thought…? “What? I don’t know the answer! The story never said!”

When working on your homework, have you known exactly what to do on one question, but then had no idea where to even begin on the next question?

A relationship is a connection or an association. The reason that happens is because questions and answers have different relationships. A relationship is a connection or an association.

Just like you have different relationships with different people, answers have different relationships with different types of questions. Your relationship with your grandparents is different from your relationship with your best friend. And if you play sports, both of those relationships are different than the one you have with your coach.

Question and Answer Relationships There are 4 main types of Question and Answer Relationships We can split them into 2 groups. In The Book Questions Beyond The Text Questions and

I can find the sentence in the story that tells me the answer. In The Book Questions First Type Right There   I can find the sentence in the story that tells me the answer.

Search and Find In The Book Questions Second Type   The answer is directly stated in the text, but I have to look in more than one place to find it.

(Hint: inference or predictions) Beyond The Text Questions First Type Author and Me The author does not directly state the answer, but I can mix clues and evidence from the text with what I already know. (Hint: inference or predictions)

On My Own Beyond The Text Questions Second Type I do not need to depend on the text to answer the question. (Hint: In Reading this would be opinions, feelings, or experiences. In Math this would be explaining how you solved the problem.)

Let’s look at some examples. Carefully read the following selection. Robert and Marco stopped to get pizza to celebrate after the big game. Robert ordered his usual; a large pizza with sausage and extra mushrooms. Marco thought about trying the new Taco Pizza. When the waitress came, he asked for a few more minutes to think about what he wanted to order. When she came back, he decided to stick with his favorite… a medium pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese. “Man, that was the best game ever,” said Robert. “I know,” Marco agreed. “Did you see the look on everyone’s faces when Scott went for the 3-point shot? I never thought he would make it.
