PEMDAS P - parentheses and grouping - ( ), [ ], { }, and absolute value - simplify within the grouping symbols first - if there is more than one grouping, start at the innermost symbol first

PEMDAS E - exponents - evaluate all powers

PEMDAS M & D M - multiplication D - division - you must simplify whichever comes first in the expression from LEFT to RIGHT

PEMDAS A & S A - addition S - subtraction - you must simplify whichever comes first in the expression from LEFT to RIGHT

Homework Pg. 91 #56-70 all Please show all of your work and do not use a calculator. Work neatly and circle/box off your final answer.

Algebraic Expressions An algebraic expression is an expression that contains at least one variable. You can evaluate an algebraic expression by replacing each variable with a value and then applying the Order of Operations

Example Evaluate using the given values. a(5a + 2b) if a = 3 and b = -2

Example Evaluate using the given values.
