Most modern cars are largely dependent on their batteries. They power the ignition system of the car, air conditioners, lights etc. There are many types of car batteries used in today’s cars. Car Battery

Lead Acid batteries are the most commonly used batteries in cars. They comprise of an electrolytic solution. The electrolytic solution is a mixture of lead and sulfuric acid. The electrolytic reaction between the two produces electricity. They are compact, lightweight and require less maintenance.

Deep cycle batteries are designed to endure repeated cycling. They supply less power to cars constantly over a period of time. This helps conserve battery power and use it accordingly. Deep cycle batteries are also used in trucks and off-road sports vehicles. Deep Cycle Batteries

Absorbed glass matt batteries are also known as valve regulated lead acid batteries. They consist of pressurized safety valves. These pressurized safety valves are designed to prevent fluid loss. Absorbed glass matts comprise of thin matts. Thin matts are used to lower the internal resistance. These batteries are relatively expensive and are best suited for high end cars.

Lithium ion batteries are commonly used in high performance vehicles. They are used in electric cars as they are lighter. They optimize the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Lithium Ion Batteries

Wet batteries or flooded batteries were popular during the 1990’s. They are easy to maintain and are relatively cheap. They comprise of plates that are freely suspended in electrolytic solution. The fluid in the battery will remain until the battery dies. Wet Batteries

These batteries are made up of a calcium alloy present on differently charged plates. This calcium alloy reduces the amount of fluid discharge. This results in a slower rate of current discharge. Bubbles which move through the solution mixes different acid densities. Calcium-Calcium Battery
