Challenges in Economic Statistics funded by the World Bank TFSCB Three workshops in 2009-2010 on Short-term statistics Seasonal adjustments Consumer price indices Highlighting the importance of timeliness for statistical agencies in general and in the present financial turmoil especially The methodology of seasonal adjustments as a long-term learning process – Recommendation: same participants in the two first training workshops! Problematic funding – a USD 50’000 for funding UNECE staff to the workshop is still needed (TIKA?) 23 March 2009

Supporting improved information on Migration issues funded by the UN Development Account, 6th Tranche Global UNECLAC-lead project USD > 1’000’000 UNECE share is around 170’000 UNECE’s share focuses on development of statistical indicators Better availability and quality of data on international migration Strengthening evidence-based policymaking and research in the field of international migration, through the involvement of key users of statistics on international migration and the promotion of empirical research on it 23 March 2009

Supporting improved information access on Violence against Women funded by the UN Development Account, 6th Tranche Global UNECLAC-lead project USD > 736’000 UNECE share is 145’000 UNECE’s share focuses on development of statistical indicators Two meetings of a UNECE Task Force on VaW Testing a module to measure VaW to be introduced in population based surveys Continuation of work, performed by UNECE in cooperation with its member countries over the years on gender statistics 23 March 2009
