The purpose of the segment Life cycle of a well Provide client with three main services : 1- Measurements while drilling. 2-Logging while drilling. 3-Directional drilling In MWD : To measure formation properties (E.g. resistivity and gamma ray) In LWD : Acquisition of petrophysical data In DD : Controlling the direction and deviation of wellbore to predetermined underground target or location Life cycle of a well The services are usually provided during the drilling Will be continued (Read from : http://www.slb.com/services/drilling/mwd_lwd/mwd.aspx ) MWD: to provide continuous direction and inclination to guide geosteering and provide data for survey management and development planning LWD: to describe the systems and techniques for gathering downhole data while drilling a well DD: Directional drilling has helped by greatly reducing the costs and environmental impact when drilling from multiple wells from single location.

D&M Services Measurement While Drilling ( MWD ) Determine the Wellbore’s Direction and Inclination Transmit Downhole Data to the surface Rotational Speed (Smoothness) Mud Flow Volume Downhole Temperature Provide Gamma Ray and Drilling Mechanic Measurements Can Provide Power for LWD Tools The term MWD refers to directional-drilling measurements, for decision support for the smooth operation of the drilling, while LWD refers to measurements concerning the geological formation made while drilling. LWD and MWD services deliver high quality data to enable time-critical decision for accurate directional drilling.
