Create New Leaders 2nd September – 9th September 2017 District 1080 - RYLA 2017 Create New Leaders 2nd September – 9th September 2017

Grafham Water Centre Cambridgshire

What is RYLA? Inspiring and developing suitably talented young people as future leaders in business & the community 18 -26 year olds 7 day intensive course 3rd September 2016 until 10th September 2016 inclusive Open Day & Tour – Sunday 4th Sept. So … what is RYLA all about? Once again the programme this year is being held at the Graffham Water Development Centre from 30th August to 6th September for young people aged between 18 and 26 at the start of the course. I would like to give a brief overview of the event … It is fun but certainly not just a “jolly” It is a focussed programme designed to bring out the best attributes of the individual. www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

Why should your Club participate? Inspire youth to engage with Rotary Create links with local businesses Make a better community for us all Supports local youth development Can invite awardee to speak at your club – twice! Promote the work of Rotary Make Rotarians of the future We trust that clubs will continue to support this opportunity again this year and here are just a few reasons for the club to participate. This presentation will be sent to your Youth Officer in the club to use in communicating the RYLA programme to all Rotarians You can reserve a place as soon as possible and there is no need to have the candidate in place at the time of reservation. A Above all RYLA enables clubs to promote the work of Rotary locally. www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

What Rylarians say ….. Inspirational, challenging, being thrown in the deep end, enabling learning and personal development. RYLA encourages us to jump into the unknown, completing challenging activities and character building. It teaches us the value of strong relationships through leadership and team building whilst inspiring others to test their mental limitations and reach their full potential RYLA, a life changing experience teaching us that drive and dedication can overcome anything, bringing new friends together whilst pushing every aspect of our lives to the limit. A fabulous opportunity to participate in both mental and physical challenges. Recognising the importance of teamwork, commitment and listening. Developing leadership skills and personal confidence, making it a once in a lifetime experience, in particular the lesson to expect the unexpected www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

What employers say … "For a number of years we have supported RYLA by sending our employees on this excellent course and we are rewarded with improved productivity. We have sent employees with very varying characters and personalities and every single one has been challenged and come back much improved. As a direct result of the course each employee has had a much greater focus and understanding of what they wish to achieve both at work and in life in general. Speaking from the employers point of view we have found the course unbeatable value for money and the outstanding results consistently produced by the RYLA staff makes it very worthwhile." www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

Benefits Excellent value not attained anywhere else Develops management & individual potential Creates a more confident employee / person Gives skills to positively contribute to work and the world around them Changes thinking and attitudes Shows how Rotary can help business and the community www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

Value for Money What sort of development week away could you buy for £600? Would it be life changing? Would it make a positive impact on your community, businesses and individuals? www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

What does it cost? £600 per candidate (STILL held at 2010 prices) Paid in staged payments … down to £75 deposit paid with booking Balance to be paid before the end of June 2016 Now to the nitty gritty The total cost is £550 and is great value as in my experience similar course of this quality and length are up to 4 times this price. You will need to send a deposit of £100 with the reservation form to Dorothy Pulsford-Harris by the end of April – remember at this stage you do not have to have the name of the candidate just the intent to give someone the opportunity of a lifetime. The next payment will be by the 20th May when we will need 40% of the balance (£180) in order that we can confirm the numbers with Graffham and meet our obligations. The final payment will be the balance of £270 by mid August 08. www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

What can you do? Sponsor candidates Get local business involved & sponsor staff – value for money Participate in the week Spread the word Support RYLA How can you help? We ideally need 45 sponsored participants, whether this is sponsored by the club themselves or by a local organisation. We also would like volunteers to assist during the week – even if it is just coming the open day on the first Sunday. The more you support the event the more worthwhile it will be. If you wish for further details then you can visit the website, contact the District RYLA Officer Martin Brocklebank on 01603 712236 or martin@ryla.co.uk You can simply just spread the word … www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

Who can sponsor? Any business or organisation wishing to grow and identify their future talent. Local businesses can develop their staff at a reasonable cost Your club can sponsor as part of your youth ventures A group of clubs can join together for sponsorship Charitable organisations Anyone who wishes to support an individual for betterment www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

What next? Visit the website Reserve a place Get sponsors Agree a candidate Complete the forms Arrange a club presentation by the candidate What do we do next? We need clubs to reserve a place soonest so that we can gauge the support and protect our costs. Please note that you do not have to have your candidate in place when you book … this is just an indication of intent. Ideally before the end of May each club should have chosen their candidate and completed the paperwork together with settling the staged payments – more later. There is a website with all the information you need including downloadable forms if you need them. This can also be used to help inform potential sponsors as well. The website is a dedicated 1080 site and can be found at www.ryla.co.uk www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017

A Valuable Experience 2017 www.ryla.co.uk BOOK NOW!! And finally ladies & gentlemen I would like to leave you with some of the comments from previous RYLA Awardees following their experience ---------------------------------------- The most amazing week of my life, meeting new people and having fun whilst learning new skills to use in the future. RYLA has massively boosted my confidence politeness, teamwork and leadership. It changed my way of thinking for the better. It has been a confidence building opportunity that has given me new skills and a chance to challenge my thinking. The experience has taught me to become so much more capable and not worry about things that I have to face. RYLA has brought me out of myself and has given me the confidence to lead a team. To me RYLA has been one of the biggest eye openers. It taught me more about myself, including who I am, who I want to be and how to get there Thank you BOOK NOW!! www.ryla.co.uk 2nd September – 9th September 2017
