Legislative Branch Essay Preparation Outlines

Essay #1 and #2: How many paragraphs does this essay deserve and why? What are the task words of this essay prompt? Be very careful in understanding what the essay is asking of you!!! What do they mean and what are you being asked to do?

Introduction What historical evidence will you provide in your introduction? What were the founding fathers thinking when writing Article 1 of the Constitution? What other kind of background would it be important to share in your introduction about the legislative branch of government? Finally: What is your thesis? What are you trying to prove???? This is the last sentence or two in of your introduction. The introduction should provide a preview and have at least 7 sentences.

Body Paragraphs Topic sentence? Historical evidence? 2-3 details and examples of information. Should be informational and use of vocabulary should be in the appropriate context and words should be described when necessary. Should have analysis (why the main ideas and concepts important or significant?) Transition sentence to next paragraph. Should have 8-12 sentences in the body paragraphs

Conclusion Start specific and get broad—you could even restate your thesis. Talk about the main ideas in your essay (topic sentences) Make a connection to how the legislative branch works today. Should be 6-7 sentences.
