The Importance of Numbers

Why Are Numbers Important??? Numbers are used by everywhere! Numbers are used everyday! Math would not be possible without numbers! How have you used numbers today?

Four Important Uses of Numbers count position label measure

Counting Most children are counting numbers by the age of two. What are some of the things we count?

Counting Numbers

Position We use numbers to tell position. You should think of ordinal numbers. When do we use numbers to show position?

Ordinal Numbers Show Position

Labeling Numbers are used to label objects. Labels are everywhere! Where have you seen labels?

Labeling of Numbers

Measure Numbers are used to measure. We measure things daily! Think of something you can measure.

Things We Can Measure Distance Time Carpenters measure length, width, and the height of different objects.

Review count, position, label, and measure There are four ways to use numbers. What are they? count, position, label, and measure
