Appropriate administration route depends on: The dosage form in which the drug is available The patient’s age The patient’s condition, e.g. level of consciousness, etc.

Oral The most convenient and most commonly used route of administration Examples are tablets, capsules, and liquids

Parenteral Any route of administration other than the oral route

Parenteral Intradermal Subcutaneous Intramuscular Intravenous Sublingual

Parenteral Rectal Vaginal Topical Transdermal Inhalation
