Technical Drawing

A Picture is Worth 1000 Words: A graphic language Pictures are used to construct buildings, machines, highways, products and systems of our world. Why are pictures so useful?

Types of Pictures: Freehand sketches Technical Drawings Drafted-Design Computer-Aided Design

How does Technical Drawing Differ from Freehand Sketch? Many simple projects can be made from a freehand sketch. More complex projects require accurate, detailed plans. More complex projects often require many different plans-building, electrical, assembly, that are used by many different people.

Freehand Drawings First stage of development of a drawing Quick way to gather ideas Only on pencil and paper Getting lines where you want them is important- use dots or construction lines as a guide.

Drafting Refers to all the drawing techniques that are used to describe actual size, shape and structure of an object.

Technical Drawing Instruments T-Square Triangle Compass Drawing Boards Rulers

Isometric Drawing Object are drawn at 30 degrees and tilted forward 30 degrees so 3 sides are shown.

Orthographic Drawing Objects are draw from 4 different view points Top View Side View Front View Back View
