Green Office Program Introduction RESOURCE MANAGEMENT & OFFICE OF SUSTAINABILITY Green Office Program Introduction

What is the Green Office Program? Program Goals: Major impact through cumulative effort Engagement on all WUSTL campuses Bring Sustainability Strategic Plan to life The Green Offices Program is built around an easy-to-use checklist and a set of resources that have been designed to support WUSTL offices to become more sustainable. The checklist serves as a tool for offices to self-assess current practices, set goals, and be recognized for their achievements.

What is the Green Office Program? Key Components: DIY Checklist assists with: Self-assessment Identifying areas to improve Setting goals Join Sustainability Community Be a sustainability champion in your office Be recognized for your efforts and celebrate your successes Be a part of a large community effort to achieve the University’s sustainability goals, which are outlined in the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Operations Encourage your office members, peers, and other offices to reduce their environmental impact Share your sustainability practices and ideas with offices across all WUSTL campuses

Green Offices at WUSTL The Green Offices checklist includes seven sustainability categories: Energy Waste Documents, Mail & Publications Purchasing Transportation Awareness Innovations

Green Offices at WUSTL Format: The checklist is an easy-to-use Excel file with a tab for each sustainability category Weighted Point-Based Scoring: Points are automatically assigned and tallied as you fill out the checklist. Point values vary based on importance/environmental impact Green Office Certification Levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum No Auditing: Certification is opt-in and based on the honor system

Process – Getting Started Define office space (group of people sharing common resources) Elect a Green Office representative Meet with a Green Office representative Register your office on the Sustainability website Download checklist from Sustainability website Optional: meet with Green Office Representative Fill in your information on the “summary” page

Process – Getting Certified Key Steps: Complete checklist Include comments in each section, if necessary Contact the Office of Sustainability with any difficulties that may arise Refer to resources on the Green Offices website, such as the template email Email completed checklist to sustainability@wustl.edu Work with your office to complete the checklist – reach out to office members to raise awareness and get a better idea of individual sustainable practices Write any comments, questions, or concerns in the comment section of each category tab, or email the Office of Sustainability. Email checklist to the Office of Sustainability. Office of Sustainability will confirm certification level. Meet with Green Offices intern again with any questions and comments/to make a plan of action moving forward (optional).

The Checklist: A tab for each of the seven categories (Energy tab shown above) For each checklist item, mark “x” in either Yes, No, or N/A Points will automatically tally (if N/A, that point will be removed from total possible) Write any comments or concerns in the space provided on each page Refer back to the “Summary” tab at the end to see your total
