Box-only preparation: Slot Preparation for amalgam Facial and lingual proximal walls converge occlusally No. 330 or 245 Retention grooves 0.5mm depth at the gingival point angle 0.3mm at the occlusal surface Retention grooves are placed with a No. 1⁄8 or 1⁄4 bur.
