Expectations Of Second Graders Second Graders should: Greet adults and peers Say please and thank you Use appropriate voice in school Be kind to all classmates Work cooperatively with peers Listen to teacher and peers Raise hand and take turns speaking Help keep our classroom neat Select a book (5 finger rule) Read for 15 minutes independently Complete homework with some help Line up without talking Walk quietly in the hallway

Homework There is homework every night Mon.-Thurs. Some assignments will require your assistance. Please point out any errors and allow the child to complete the assignment. A weekly assignment sheet will be sent home in HW Folder. Your child must read for 15 minutes every night! Monthly Reading Logs (calendars) are in front of yellow HW Book. Students that complete monthly Reading Logs will get to pick a prize from the treasure box. If your child does not complete homework please send a note and have them complete the next night. Baggy Books must be returned on FRIDAY. (Review weeks only)

For Your Information Be sure to check out the new website-www.upperdarbysd.org Behavior- Please read Parent Handbook for school rules, discipline plan and consequences. Clip It Behavior Plan- See chart in room Teams- Students work in teams. Team of the week earns a sticker and extra privleges. Team of Marking Period earns lunch with the teacher. Bathroom Breaks- Students are permitted to use the bathroom anytime during the school day with the exception of when I’m teaching a lesson. Wednesday Folders- No folders this year! Please check website for information. Don’t forget to pay Home and School $5.00 dues! Birthdays-We love to celebrate birthdays! Recess/Lunch- We have recess/lunch at 12:30-1:15. Money- Please add $ to account online or put all money in an envelope and label it. Snack- We will have a working morning snack on most days. Please send something healthy. Water or clear drinks only. Absent Notes-Send in with your child when they return to school.

Report Cards and Conferences Conferences will be held twice a year. Parents must attend conferences to pick up report cards. Dates: November 20-21 ( evening 5-7:30 on 11/21 Tues.) March 21-22 ( evening 5-7:30) Students dismissed at 12:30 on these days. I will send out an email for day/time preferences.
