Strand 4: Students will identify various careers and professional standards in the Hospitality and Food Industry

Standard 1: Identify jobs Careers in the culinary/food service industry and travel and tourism industry. *Front of house: customer service, the service personnel that work the dining room *Back of house: support staff, kitchen personnel including chefs, cooks, dishwashers, and receiving clerks

Visit utahfutures.org careersoccupation search Then search for careers using keywords like food, tourism, hospitality, or anything else you can think of. Let’s make a list!

Standard 2: Employability Skills Applied knowledge: *Critical thinking skills: think creatively, make sound decisions, solve problems, reason through things, plan, organize Applied academic skills: reading and writing, mathematical strategies and procedures, scientific principles and procedures WHY?

Standard 2: Employability Skills Effective relationships: *Interpersonal skills (teamwork, cooperation, responds to customer needs, leadership, negotiation, respectful of differences, communication) Personal qualities (honesty/integrity, initiative, positive attitude, loyalty, dependability, respect, punctuality, responsibility, pride, humility, working independently, creativity, passion, ability to accept professional constructive criticism WHY?
