Work is defined as an activity done to produce or accomplish something
People work to gain something in return

6. Differences between Careers and jobs
A career is a series of related skills and experiences that are usually in the same or related fields.
These skills and experiences will help you to advance in a chosen field of work
Think of the career that you wrote about yesterday, think of some skills and experiences that will help you to advance in this career

Tuesday- how work provides lifestyle, satisfaction, keeps the economy strong
Wednesday- about how work requires knowledge and skills.
Homework- Prepare interview questions for your parents regarding the types of jobs they held during their lifetime. Questions can cover what they liked most and least, what skills they used, where they happy about their jobs. Due Friday
Thursday- review different types of transferable skills that they have learned, and will be learning this year in school, and how they can apply them to a future career.

A career ladder shows a sequence of work in a career field from entry to advanced levels
Each step in your career may require that you learn new and more complex information and skills
Reaching your final career objective may take many years and require considerable education and training
Careers require that many skills be learned to progress in a chosen area. No matter what career direction you choose advancing will depend on learning more complex information and skills

The purpose of work is to produce or accomplish something.
What could that something be?

2. Commitment to a goal

What is income?

2. Satisfying greater needs usually requires income from a higher-paying job

In addition to your needs, you also have wants. Wants go beyond actual needs
Wants include items items you would like to have, but do not need to survive.
For example-
1. while you may need a car, you may want a new sports car
2. While you may need a place to live, you may want a big apartment
3. You may need clothes, but you want new stylish clothes
4. You may need to take a short trip, but you want to go on a fun vacations
Affording your needs and wants requires earning a living by working

Working a job well help you build self-esteem, and when you have self-esteem you are confident about yourself

When people go to work, they make products and perform services that others buy
