October Help! Reminders What’s the BUZZ in First Grade? Oct. 3, 2016 WHAT HAVE WE BEEN LEARNING? God wants only good for the lives of His people. Special phonics sounds help us read and spell. Legible writing is important so that others can read what we write. Subtraction involves taking away an amount from the whole, and finding how many are left. God has given us our senses to use for learning more about His world. Scientists use their senses, scientific tools and inquiry skills to help them find out information. Help! Our class is putting together a gift basket which will be auctioned off at the FALL FESTIVAL in November. The theme for our basket will be “A Rainy Day”. Help us fill this basket with items that both boys and girls would enjoy in doors on a rainy day. (Ex: books, toys, games, movies, crafts, puzzles, Legos, snacks, DVDs) These items should be new. Just have your child bring the items to class and we will watch our FALL FESTIVAL basket grow! Parent-Teacher Conferences I am looking forward to meeting with you on the evening of Oct. 27th or the morning of Oct. 28th for conferences. You will be receiving an email invitation from the office regarding conference sign-up procedures. If you have questions regarding conferences, please contact the school office. First Graders Visit the Nursing Home On October 7th the first graders will entertain the residents at Patriot Ridge Nursing Home with singing and hand-made cheer cards. They will help to brighten the residents’ day. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who volunteered to drive for this event. Reminders Don’t forget to sign up for a Parent-Teacher Conference time. Don’t forget to sign and return the Learning Tree Farm field trip permission slip by Oct. 26th. Don’t forget to help us fill our A RAINY DAY basket. Don’t forget to check Student Planners and BEE FOLDERS daily. Don’t forget to label lunch heat-up items and send eating utensils when necessary.
