Inserting and Positioning Pictures: Picture and Graphic: Add visual presentations

The Most Commonly Used Graphic File Types Are: These File Formats are Mainly Used for: BMP: Large File Size, Icons, Wallpaper TIFF: Storage Container for Faxes and other digital images, Can be compressed or un-compressed, High Resolution Printing, GIF: Animations, Text, Clip Art, and Icons JPEG: Photographs, Natural Artwork, Desktop Publishing PNG: Not suited for photographs, Replacement for GIF and TIFF images, Online Viewing of Images

To Modify a Picture or Graphic you need to be in which Layouts? Print Layout Full Screen Reading Web Layout The Outline and Draft View DO NOT display Pictures and Graphic.

What is Clip Art? ClipArt includes drawings, movies, sounds, or stock photography to illustrate a specific concept.

ClipArt includes different types of media files. These include: Video Audio Photographs Illustrations

Windows Metafile File Format Windows Metafile File Format allows a graphic to be ungrouped so that individual portions of the graphic can be altered. .wmf

Sizing a Graphic: There are many ways in Word 2010 to size a graphic. One way is to click on the Picture Tools Format Ribbon and select the Height and Weight command in the Size group. Another way is by dragging the little squares or circles on the perimeter of the graphic when it is selected. These little squares or circles are known as sizing handles.

Text Wrapping: Text Wrapping changes the way text wraps around the selected object. There are 7 Text Wrapping Options that are available in the Arrange group on the Picture Tools Format Ribbon.

Text Wrapping Cont. 1. Inline with the Text: To configure the objects so that it moves along with the text around it.

Text Wrapping Cont. 2. Square: Configures the Objects so that is squares the graphic around the text.

3. Tight: Configures the objects so that it fits tight to the text. Text Wrapping Cont. 3. Tight: Configures the objects so that it fits tight to the text.

Text Wrapping Cont. 4. Through Text Wrapping: It configures the objects so that the text will just go through it.

Text Wrapping Cont. 5. Top and Bottom Text Wrapping: It configures the objects to be placed above the selected text.

Text Wrapping Cont. 6. Behind the Text: It configures the objects so that it is placed behind the text.

Text Wrapping Cont. 7. In Front of Text: It configures the objects so that it is placed in front of the text.

What is a Watermark? A ghosted graphic that is displayed on top of or behind text in a document. You can create a Watermark by going to the Page Layout Ribbon and selected the Watermark Command located in the Page Background Group. Examples: Confidential, Do Not Copy, Draft

What are Text Effects? Text Effects are Visual Effects added to selected text that includes shadows, reflections, glow, soft edges, bevel, and 3D Rotation. Text Effects can be added to selected Text by going to the Home Ribbon and selecting the text effects commands under the Font Group.

Repositioning a Picture in Word 2010: To reposition a picture you can go to the Position Command in the Arrange Group on the Picture Tools Format Ribbon. You can reposition the picture again by using the Arrow keys. Go to Word 2010 and practice this.
