Project Purpose CTAE classes require students to explore careers Education requirements, job setting, salary trends Include English standards: Oral presentation, Internet research, use of PowerPoint or Prezi Include Math standards: Averaging and ratios
1) My Future Life Choose a specific career Decide which college to attend List each school and degree that will be needed (undergraduate, graduate, etc) Decide where you want to live and work upon college graduation
2) My Future Life: College Explore the website of the college you have decided to attend List requirements for being accepted: Testing High School Courses GPA SAT/ACT Scores List the degrees required core and major courses List available extracurricular or pre-professional organizations available on campus
3) My Future Life: Finance List the cost for full-time study per semester: Tuition Housing Meals Estimate the number of semesters you will be in school Compute the total cost of the degree Explore scholarships, loans and grants
4) My Future Life: Licensing Find the website for the state licensing agency for your profession (if applicable) Print the testing and licensing application List the requirements, testing format and fees Include the licensing renewal requirements
5) My Future Life: House and Car Visualize the house and car you want Look at ads and websites on the Internet Use loan and mortgage calculators on a credit union website Determine monthly payments for house and car Calculate a 10% down payment Interest rate of 5%
6) My Future Life: Salary Find two Internet sources for your chosen profession Determine average yearly salary of the two sources Determine average monthly salary
My Future Life: Future Finances Add car and house payment and determine if the total exceeds 30% monthly salary If it exceeds 30%, re-think career goal or downsize house or car
