2. College Application Process
Search: Visit college campuses, research colleges online, compile college list.
Reach: Your academic qualifications are below the average admitted; it’s important to still be realistic
Match: Your academic qualifications are the same as the average admitted
Safety: Your academic qualifications exceed the average admitted
Prepare: GPA and test scores (ACT/SAT); strive for strong grades, study for standardized tests.
Apply: Applications open August 1st for UCs, October 1st for CSUs; private colleges and out of state application periods vary. Community College apps in Spring.
Financial Aid: Submit FAFSA/CA Dream Act by March 2nd of senior year.
Go: Decisions must be made by May 1st.
