Purpose To better understand in which ways and why the regions of the U. S. are different from each other both culturally and physically.

Time Zones

High Noon Cities and towns local time based on the sun’s location in the sky, called “high noon”. Easy to locate, it was when the sun was directly overhead of the city. Therefore each city had its own local time.

Standard Time Standard time and time zones were implemented because of the railroads. Railroads connected the country, and became a main method of transportation. This created a need for a more centralized time system
