Let’s take a closer look. The Eatwell Guide What do you notice about the size of the food groups? 6-8 a day Let’s take a closer look.

Eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables every day. What can you see in this group? Give an example of a fruit or vegetable that is: dried canned fresh frozen juiced All types count! Eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables every day.

Potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and other starchy carbohydrates What can you see in this group? You need to have a starchy food with every meal. What could you have for: breakfast lunch evening meal Try wholegrain varieties, e.g. wholegrain cereal, whole wheat pasta and brown rice.

Beans, pulses, fish, eggs, meat and other proteins What can you see in this group? We need some foods from this group every day. What would you choose for: lunch evening meal We should have two potions of fish a week, one of which is oily.
