EU PROJECTS in which InnovaWood participates InnovaWood is a European network of organisations involved in research, education & training, and technology transfer in the Forest, Wood and Furniture sectors Mission “Towards an integrated European research, innovation and skills area for the forest and wood industry” Overall Aim The overall aim of InnovaWood is to bring business benefit to the forestry, wood and furniture chain by providing a forum for its member organisations to contribute more effectively to the development of the sector in Europe. Key Objectives To assist, maintain and consolidate linkages among its members; To promote innovation in the different sectors it represents; To create a supporting Network in the areas of R&D, education and training and technology transfer; To implement an effective communication system between all members of the network as well as with the European Commission and industry; To develop a co-ordination mechanism between research and training providers; To support the actions of the European Commission in keys areas of policy, and to support the effectiveness of European activities InnovaWood - Who can join? InnovaWood can incorporate Institutions and organisations with interests throughout the forestry-wood and furniture chain from all European countries at the discretion of the General Assembly. Typically, our members are organisations with established competency and practice in one or more of: research, education, training, technology transfer or skills development in the forestry, wood chain sectors. Find out more on www.innovawood.com EU PROJECTS in which InnovaWood participates Supported by European Commision EFORW0OD The aim of this project is to provide methodologies and tools that will, for the first time, integrate Sustainability Impact Assessment of the whole European Forestry-Wood Chain (FWC), by quantifying performance of the FWC, using indicators for all three pillars of sustainability; environmental, economic and societal. Coordinated by Skogforsk, Sweden www.eforwood.com SSA The purpose of this project is to match industry needs and research capabilities through an integrated strategy for innovation in the European forestry- wood chain. In order to achieve its goal, the SSA project involves all key actors in the innovation process of the extended FWC. Coordinated by InnovaWood, Ireland www.innovawood-ssa.net DIPP The project aim is to reinforce the technological basis of chipboard manufacturing, and to develop innovative lightweight chipboards that meet mechanical performance requirements and have a reduced environmental impact.
