Trapezoidal shape updated

Detailed sector Numerical electronics Cooling plate with 3mm inner tube Support frame Analog electronics 3rd layer 32x16 channels 2nd layer 32x16 channels 1st layer 128x128 channels

First trapezoid designed in detail by Micron (delivery may be in 2015 …) MICRON design based on our requirements PCB showed by MICRON for checking in february 2015 => wait for the bonding

Cooling rings principle 3 cooling circuits (one for each ring) Forward Barrel Backward Orsay electronics proposal gives a total of 620 W (inside the sphere). Based on that there are 2 foreseen kind of cooling fluids to extract the heat through a cooling tube serpentine around the electronic boards. CO2 with the 2 PACL technology (Nikkhef patent) Smaller tubes (3 mm diameter) but for expertised user required Water For any user but bigger tubes (6 mm tubes) The water is used here to design the system (most conservative technology)

Cooling tubes design for the forward ring The electronic boards are fixed on lateral ribs Tube 5x6 mm of stainless steel The tubes is brazed on a copper part screwed on top of the ribs

Cooling tubes design for the forward ring < 5mm distance between the tube and the internal side of the chamber Precise shape required The tube is continuous to avoid leaks

Water flow for the forward ring Tubes diameter = 5 mm Power on the ring = 230 W Circuit length = 0,45 m for each sector Available flow (JULABO FP50HL) = For a flow of 0,8 liter/min: Temperature rise along one sector circuit = 0,5°C Temperature rise along the whole ring circuit = 4,1°C

Temperature gradient in the rib Rib simulation 230 W for the ring splitted in 64 heating areas (2x2,5cm²) 10°C imposed Rib made in aluminium 6060 (209W/m.K) is 2 mm thick 2 W on each face Temperature gradient in the rib = 6°C Example: If the chiller is set at 10°C then the electronics temperature will be between 16°C and 21°C along the cooling circuit

Mounting principle Mounting tool Each sector is mounted one by one on the mounting tool and fixed to its neighbour No space to add a back support for the detectors Auto-stability of the ring
