POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES There are 2 ways to express possession in English. Use ‘s to show an item belongs to a specific person Ex. Maria’s sweater 2. Use a possessive adjective Ex. my sweater Instead of adding ‘s to the owner, Spanish uses this formula: Possession + de + owner Ex. El suéter de Maria

Here are the possessive adjectives in Spanish My – mi, mis Your (fam.s.)- tu, tus Your (Form.s.)- su, sus His, her, its, their- su, sus Our – nuestro, nuestra, nuestros, nuestras Your (fam.pl.) – vuestro, vuestra, vuestros, vuestras Your (form.pl.) – su, sus

Examples: His book – su libro His books – sus libros Our book – nuestro libro Our books – nuestros libros Therefore, su libro could mean his book, her book, their book or your book. Of course, Spanish has a way to specify each of these!

Examples Es el libro de ella. It’s her book. Es la chaqueta de ellos. It’s their jacket. Es la falda de ti. It’s your skirt. You can use nouns or names in this fashion ,too! Ex. Es el libro de Sra. Lilly

Choose the correct answer: buscar= to look for Busco (mi/su) libro de español. Buscamos (sus/nuestros) cuadernos. Ellos buscan (tus/sus) mochilas. Mi hermana menor busca (mis/sus) lentes. Buscas (tus/vuestras) lapices Mamá busca (su/tu) reloj.

Translate the following: His jacket Her pants My hat Their shirts Our books Your backpack My grandmother His father Our mother Their cousins

Write 10 things you want. Example: Yo quiero mi mochila. Yo quiero su helado.
