Traditional vs. Non-Traditional Outreach - Liaison role attached to particular college at the university - Collection development responsibilities - Course-specific instruction - Serve undergraduates & graduates Non-Traditional: - Partnership with a specific program, not a college - No collection development - Academic potential library instruction - Serve students in a wide-variety of disciplines & majors

In the beginning… We started by supporting campus Academic Potential classes. These 1-credit pass/fail classes are embedded in many colleges and support programs, including Student Support Services.

Student Support Services - TRIO program 27 Student Support Services Program grantees in the state of Alabama received $10,346,802 in funding & served 6,610 participants UA alone received $297,467 & serves 200 students

By the Numbers (2015-2016) Program Eligibility: - Low income & first generation (74%) - First generation only (17%) - Low income only (9%)

average retention rate for years 2010-2015 91% average retention rate for years 2010-2015 Students in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or above) for years 2010-2015 (94%) Graduated in 6 years or less 2010-2015 (72%)

Future directions… foster youth, orphans, emancipated minors, wards of the state, and homeless youth intercultural engagement veterans, service members, and dependents
