Baseball A Homerun of a Sport By, Miss Williams Fall 2015

The History of Baseball Baseball started before the American Civil War. It was originally called “rounders.” The first professional league was founded in 1871. Originally black players had to play on a special Negro league. Jackie Robinson was the first to play on an integrated team.

Baseball Fun Facts There are 30 Major League Baseball teams. 29 are in the U.S. and one is in Canada. The Yankees have won 26 World Series titles. The oldest stadium is Fenway Park, built in 1912. The Baseball Hall of Fame is in Cooperstown, New York.
