The Declaration of Independence Read the two historians’ interpretation of the Declaration of Independence and complete the Why did the Founding Fathers write the Declaration of Independence? chart. Read the beginning of the Declaration of Independence and put the paragraph in your own words. Read the grievances listed in the Declaration of Independence and determine whether or not the creators of the document only wanted to help the rich and powerful or all of the colonists by completing the activity and answering questions 1 and 2. Be prepared to defend your answer with textual evidence from the Declaration of Independence.
