WEIGHT weight

The word weight comes from an old English word meaning “heaviness” ORIGIN The word weight comes from an old English word meaning “heaviness”

WEIGHT Any thing that contains matter, has weight. People measure weight using a scale, which measures how much pull gravity has on their matter. The more matter, the more weight. In space, there isn’t much gravity, so people and items weigh less in space, even though their matter hasn’t changed.

WEIGHT heaviness

WEIGHT In science, we use the word weight to describe the effect gravity has on an items’ matter, such as water, or a stone

A synonym for weight is load.

WEIGHT An antonym (meaning opposite) for weight is hollow

WEIGHT In science, weight is measured in metric units, such as milligram, gram, and kilogram
