Higher education system European system LMD End of secondary education: baccalauréat (= Maturita) Feature: state diploma that entitles students to go directly to the university Bachelor’s degree (= Licence) Master’s degree (master): - professional - research > Doctor’s degree: PhD

How to get there? (1) Framework of Erasmus program - Each Czech university has some bilateral agreements with French higher education institutions - One semester or one year - More information at the office for international relations of your university - Grant (max 1 year) and accommodation usually provided - No tuition fees - Validation of European credits to get the diploma (2) Individual student mobility - Can be decided whenever the student wants - 1-year or more stay - Does not depend on the agreements - Depends on equivalent rating on qualification

Individual student mobility: conditions Each institution has its own criteria regarding the application agenda, the required French proficiency, the equivalence of diploma,… Bachelor’s degree: - French proficiency: at least DELF B2 proficiency - Selection on the basis of exam results - equivalence recognition - Program taught in English: TOEFL or TOEIC may be required Master’s degree: - Selection on the basis of the record of achievement at school and interview with a commission - Equivalence recognition - Entrance examination or highly selective process based on records performance and interview at Grande Ecole PhD: You must contact first the potential PhD supervisor to get his/her agreement Usually the application process is taking place between February and June

A few financial figures How much are the tuition fees? At university: between 200 and 400€/year + 200€ for health insurance. Programs taught in English could be more expensive! !!International students pay the same tuition fees as French students!! In “Grandes Ecoles”: depends on their status (public or private) - Accommodation: the rent depends on where you live, between 150 and 600€ !!International students benefit from the same financial help for accommodation as French students (about 150€/month)!!

Case study: carrying out a study plan From November to January Objective: to gather information casting the widest possible net and then to sift through that information with guidance from a specialist to identify the most promising institutions and programs (2) From December to February: Preparation of the application Write and/or translate all the required documents into French and/or English (CV, cover letter, transcript of records, diplomas, professional project,…) Apply for the grant programs suitable to your profile (3) From February to June: Application process Constitution of the application file(s) and follow-up At each step of the way, CampusFrance is there to help!!

(1) Identify the most promising institutions and programs www.campusfrance.org Choose the degree and after the criteria - The grant search engine must be completed with the visit of the French embassy’s website: www.france.cz internship grants (2 months) under the joint supervision PhD program (covers 5 months per year during 3 years) Copernic program (post-master program in management) other programs: regions, Grandes Écoles, Accenture funds

(2) and (3) The application (2) Preparation of the documents (CV, cover letter, professional project, application files,…) => CampusFrance can correct all the documents you have written in order to optimize the impact of your application (2) All translated documents must be official namely certified by the French embassy => CampusFrance is responsible for the validation and it is free (3) Application process: CampusFrance can be the link between the student and the French higher education institution in order to solve problem or to follow up the process
