Planner Homework: Soundtrack Of My Life project worksheets 1 & 2

Today I will learn: I will learn to pair meaningful events in my life with songs, creating a soundtrack for my life thus far.

Composers Test 1. Hand in your re-do worksheet and original test with parent signature.

Soundtrack of my Life This project is worth 70 points. It is due: Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 The end project will include: Grade: Everyone can get 100% on this assignment! This project is worth 70 points. You will need: These planning pages (completed) 10 points. A cool CD cover created and printed from the computer. 5 points Your soundtrack list and life event that it is paired with created and printed from the computer. 5 Points All song lyrics created in Word and printed from the computer. 10 points Your reflective letter created and printed from the computer. 35 Points Presentation of one song and life event 5 points

Soundtrack of my life Part I: Brainstorm Think about your life up until now. What major events have changed you, shaped you, influenced you, shook you? Are there times that were wildly happy or incredibly sad? Some moments may be huge like the death of a loved one or your first day of junior high. Or they might have seemed insignificant at the time like meeting your best friend or starting to play a sport. Try to choose a variety of events—all sad or angry events will make for a downer of a soundtrack.

Soundtrack of my life Part I: Brainstorm You are going to put your events in chronological order (that’s the order in which they happened) Pick a song that you think accurately represents each event. In choosing each song, think about the lyrics, the style and the tone or mood of the song. Remember that the music on soundtracks vary in style; your soundtrack should do so also. Remember that songs MUST be school appropriate. Use Quotation marks around the song title!

Soundtrack of my life Take 10 minutes to begin worksheet #1 You will brainstorm 8 events and come up with some song ideas that go with the events. If you can’t think of the group/artist, don’t worry you can look that up on the computer tomorrow! When you are done with your 8 events, STAR FIVE events that you will use for this project.

Complete this for EACH of your five events. Soundtrack of my life Part II: Produce It Just like a music producer, try to create the sequence of your chosen songs.  For example, your songs might be listed in the chronological order of the events they document, or they might be mixed together so that all of the slow songs are not back-to-back.  DO NOT just list them randomly.  Put some thought into the order of your songs and the complete package you are presenting. Remember to create a title for your soundtrack!  Soundtrack Title: ____________________________________________ Track 1 Song Title _______________________________________________ Artist or Group: ________________________  Event _______________________________________________ Complete this for EACH of your five events.

Exit Q & A: Answer in complete sentences! In TWO sentences, tell me why you think that the “Soundtrack of my life” project can tell me more about you?
