Ch.19 Planning for Emergencies Describe the principles of developing a crisis plan. Explain why a crisis plan is necessary. Design a basic crisis plan & explain the steps. Understand the role of the student assistant during a crisis.

Emergency Action Plan “Crisis Plan” - A written plan that enables the central sports medicine team to cope with emergency situations.

Emergency Medical Services Emergency medical services “EMS” mobile emergency health care providers.

Triage Triage - The process of identifying the most seriously injured people to determine who gets sent to the hospital first.

Emergency Plan Signals

Implementing the Emergency Plan The plan should be practiced regularly . It must work during after school practices, evening practices, night and day games. It should identify the roles and responsibilities of various personnel. The plan should be specific for various locations. It should include a practice script for making proper EMS telephone calls.

Emergency Action Plan Project Students will be given the opportunity to choose their groups of 3 students Sport site/facility will be assigned. Students will create with other group members an Emergency Map of sporting facility. Students will write a detailed EAP plan explaining the steps and or procedures for your sport.
