Year 9 Options Evening

Options

GCSE Grades GCSEs to be graded from nine to one, replacing A*-to-G grades • Grade 9 will be highest • Grade 5 will be considered a “good pass”, equivalent to a current low B or high C. It will be linked to standards in high performing countries • Grade 4 will be equivalent to current mid/low C grade • Grade 1 will be the lowest

New “good pass” Grade 5 will be considered a “good pass”, equivalent to a current low B or high C. • Only the top 1/3rd currently obtaining a C grade will be awarded a new grade 5 • 2/3rd of pupils currently obtaining a C grade will be awarded a new grade 4 which is not deemed to be a “good pass”

New Grading 2016-2018 Changes from September 2016 teaching to all GCSEs, except for: • Sociology • Business Studies • Design Technologies: Electronics, Graphics and Product Design. • However the Food GCSE WILL change
