LHC Beam Commissioning Meeting V. Kain & R. Alemany Dry Run Summary Week 29: Post Mortem Week 30: LBDS B2, RF FGC new version, Incorporation Week 31: RBAC STRIC, LBDS B2, Squeeze, MKI, Injection sequence, IQC LHC OP, Markus Zerlauth, Pierre Charrue, Wojtek Sliwinski, Etienne Carlier, BT group, etc. https://espace.cern.ch/mddb/Systems%20Dry%20Run%20Tests/Home.aspx 07.07.2009 LHC Beam Commissioning Meeting V. Kain & R. Alemany 1

Week 29: Post Mortem PM data clients: BIC, BI, PVSS (PIC), BLM, BPM, PC, collimators, ALARMS, UPS, FMCM Analysis = Pre-analysis ( 1 min after PM event) + Analysis (max 7 min after PM event) Result:  time to process and analyze a trigger. Use a PM1 event ============================================= PM1 triggered at 10:51:22.563 Pre-analysis launched at 10:52:12.698 Pre-analysis finished at 10:52:19.227 Final analysis started at 10:56:23.762 Final analysis started at 10:56:32.844 M. Zerlauth

Week 30: LBDS B2, RF FGC new version, Incorporation Arming OK System dumped in several ways: operator switch, BIS frequency stopped, energy difference using the BETSSIM. Ramped to 7 TeV Sequence Inject and dump OK (Injection test mode) RBAC OK (Only expert can acknowledge) ALARMS OK Some issues with Fixed displays

RF FGC New version: Load settings and ramp with timing event (equip state + sequencer) OK RF synchronization sequence OK Some issues with the logging Real Time Input OK

New BLM critical settings OK, trimming OK MCS for collimators OK Incorporation: The incorporation can be done now per system and parameter type. Week 31 new incorporation rule tested and found that it only from the start of the function but not in the middle (investigating). Incorporation in the whole hyper cycle not working yet. A new incorporation rule CONSTANT_DECAY_IR (needed for RF frequency program) available. New BLM critical settings OK, trimming OK Acquire doesn’t work gives always null MCS for collimators OK

Week 31: RBAC STRICT, LBDS B2, Squeeze, IQC, MKI RBAC STRICT  see Pierre presentation LBDS B2 Programmed Dump: Everything fine except BPM, BCT and vacuum that doesn’t publish data after a programmed dump. Squeeze: squeeze of IP1 and IP5 combined with orbit correctors and global chroma tested. IT not fully tested yet.

IQC: first prototype tested and working nicely, three analysis modules + one overall module per beam working: Intensity extracted from SPS BLM RF bucket check MKI: synchronization tests were done for both beams of the MKI w.r.t. injection pre-pulse  both injection pre-pulses have been delayed by 1.2 ms

Next Dry Runs Week 32: Week 33: LBDS B1: arming and Inject and Dump sequence Follow up: Incorporation, RBAC STRICT, Fidel, etc. Week 33: DIP handshake LHC State Machine Follow up of issues
