Mini-ATTRACT Phase 1 Governance Structure

ATTRACT-Phase-1: Governance Structure The PCB manages the project and is the ultimate decision-making body. Each Consortium partner has a representative in the PCB. The PCB’s main roles are to: steer the overall project; approve the recommendations by the IC. The IC is an independent committee of recognised experts in Detector & Imaging technology from science, industry and the private investor community, for: the preparation of the contents for the ATTRACT Phase-1 Open Call; the evaluation of the received project proposals; the ranking for funding for Mini ATTRACT. The PAC consists of representatives of European public and private entities. The tasks of the PAC are to: establish an open dialogue with European policy makers; establish an open dialogue with public and private investors to raise their interest in investing into the continuation of ATTRACT; advice PCB on the possible governance structure models for Maxi-ATTRACT, based on the gained experience from Mini-ATTRACT. PAC and IC Representatives will be invited to sign a document specifying their mission (Terms of Reference).

ATTRACT-Phase-1: What & When will IC do? After the Open Call is closed, IC will meet to go through the received proposals for funding (up to 180 will be selected, 100kE each); IC members will be assisted by 2-3 reviewers each, using a dedicated submission and evaluation portal created for the Project; A year later the IC meets to review again the 180 funded projects, to select a handful for further funding 3-5 ME each, as part of proposed Phase 2 funding; IC members are not representing their home institutions but rather their respective areas of expertise in detection and imaging. The members are expected to be knowledgeable and well recognized in their respective fields of scientific instrumentation building and industrial applications. This ranges from physics to life sciences, medical fields and engineering covering the full spectrum from sensors, signal read-out and processing, strategic software and (system) integration & engineering. Experience in industry and/or private investment is also expected; The names of the IC members will be made public, whereas the reviewers will remain anonymous. The Coordinator of IC is professor Sergio.Bertolucci@bo.infn.it (Bologna) and all nominations should be addressed to him directly by December 31st, 2017.
