Issues list - overview Chapter 3: MFA Chapter 4: Waste Energy accounts: Kolshus: Summary of the issues related to energy flow accounts and colaboration between the Oslo Group on Energy Statistics and the London Group

MFA - background SEEA 2003 includes a very brief introduction to MFA and description of the link between SUT and MFA A lot of work is now going on: Eurostat task force and OECD work on a MFA guidance manual (guide light)

MFA aggregation issues Policy relevance of a single MFA indicator ? Industrial dimension ? - further development of links to SUTs and I-O tables - standards Material/product dimension ? Weights and impact factors? improving policy relevance short term or long term issue

Waste accounts The terminology and classification Categories of waste, waste treatment, industrial classifications Standardizing methodologies to compile waste accounts harmonizing concepts and definitions used in waste statistics and waste accounts links with MFA. The European Union Waste Statistics Regulation could serve as a starting point for developing waste categories, waste treatment methods and industrial classifications for the waste accounts. Standardized waste tables

Energy Accounts Energy accounts Bridge tables List prepared by the Oslo Group Bridge tables Linking energy and emission statistics (including the Kyoto protocol) to the national accounts Renewable energy resources Methodology should be developed to expand the energy accounts to include renewable energy so as to link this information to the economic variables.
