ADHD and ADD

I struggle a lot more than most children to focus. ADHD and ADDH Attention deficit disorder (ADDH) Attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) I struggle a lot more than most children to focus. I struggle a lot more than most children to focus, keep still and I am impulsive (I can’t wait).

Hang on…Ms Noronha is doing all these assemblies and I think I am Dyslexic and Autistic and now have ADHD or ADD. It’s getting a bit confusing!

OK let me explain a bit more.. Similarly to autism we can all : So people with autism need more help than other people: Worry when things change Worry about lots of little things Have special interests Find friendships and emotions tricky BUT this does not make us all autistic. If you are autistic these things do not go away. To learn more about how to deal with these things.

1.Similarly with dyslexia we can all: 2.So people with dyslexia will need to check their spelling more than most people Find some spellings tricky. Get tired of reading Forget things BUT this does not make us all dyslexic. If you are dyslexic spelling will always be tricky and sometimes reading and remembering. And they will need help to Organise themselves Remember things Learn spellings Touch type on the computer

Like autism and dyslexia there are people at school who have ADHD and ADD so it’s helpful for us to know a bit about them. 1 in 10 people have one of these. That could mean 3 children in a class. It’s all about how your brain works.

So lets learn a little more about ADD and ADHD Children may understand what's expected of them but have trouble following through because they can't sit still, pay attention, or focus on details. I really can’t help it, I’m not badly behaved.

My name is Jack, and I am writing about what it is like to have ADHD and what it does to my life. I wish people would understand how I feel. Sometimes I go silly but I do not mean to do it. I get mad sometimes for no reason and can’t control it but I am learning to control it. People do not know that I have ADHD, but they should know more about it so they then can understand that my brain does not work like everyone else’s. I think there should be a group where people with special needs get together and talk about how they feel and so we know it is not just me with special needs.
