Access eResources: Off campus proxy login When you are away from campus and you click on a database or journal link, you will be prompted to log in to the proxy server using your PNWU user name and password.

a) AccessMedicine: Readings Search for eBooks by title or specialty. Or do a keyword/text search for topics across the platform. More information about AccessMedicine can be found in the Databases section. Note: Many of the suggested readings for clinical rotations are included in this collection.

b) ebrary “Browse all titles” on the ebrary homepage.

From the PNWU ebrary landing page, create a personal user account. With an ebrary account you can copy text, print pages, save citations to RefWorks or EndNote, highlight, annotate, organize saved information in your bookshelf, and read offline using the Bluefire Reader app.

c) EBSCOhost eBooks You can use the EBSCOhost Advanced Search feature to find books by title, author, subject, ISBN, and keywords, or browse the collection by clicking the eBooks tab in the top menu bar.

(EBSCOhost eBooks continued) You can email or download and save sections of the book to your computer (up to 60 pages at a time) for printing. You can also create a user account to save bookmarks, notes, and searches to be retrieved later.

d) LWW Health Library Osteopathic Medicine Collection - New

The LWW Health Library Osteopathic Medicine Collection includes 10 essential textbooks, plus videos, practice questions and links to relevant journal articles through PubMed. Access is online only through supported browsers. You can print text or email chapters for offline reading.

d) PubMed@PNWU When you search using PubMed@PNWU, you can access articles from our database subscriptions such as MEDLINE Complete and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. Look for the PNWU Library icons in the abstract view of your search results.

e) AccessMedicine 1 2 3 4 5 Register for a free personal account to create self tests and custom study guides. AccessMedicine includes: 1) textbooks; 2) drug info; 3) images & video; 4) the Case Files series; 5) self-assessment tools, and more.

f) Acland Video Atlas of Human Anatomy A full range of high quality, narrated human dissection videos created at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

The video atlas allows you to take practice exams, then save your scores and bookmarks. Click on My Favorites and create your personal account to begin using these features.

g) The Cochrane Library The Cochrane Library is a collection of evidence-based medicine databases: The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (Cochrane Reviews) The Cochrane Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (Other reviews) The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (Search for clinical trials) The Cochrane Methodology Register (Methods studies) Health Technology Assessment Database (Technology assessments) NHS Economic Evaluation Database (Economic evaluations)

The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews Cochrane Reviews are considered the gold standard for systematic reviews in such key publications as: The Lancet New England Journal of Medicine British Medical Journal (BMJ) Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)

A Cochrane Systematic Review: identifies an intervention for a specific disease and determines whether or not there is conclusive evidence about a treatment. summarizes the results of research gathered primarily from randomized controlled trials on a specific topic in a single document.

2 3 1 5 4 1 You can browse topics and reviews listed for different databases; Conduct a simple or advanced search with Search Manager; Search using MeSH terms (Medical Subject Headings); Apply limits to your search; or Save your search.

Each Cochrane Review consists of an abstract and plain language summary, the full text of the review in HTML or PDF format, plus figures, diagrams, and references.

h) DynaMed Enter your search term in the main search box, browse categories, or search the A-Z index. DynaMed features medical equations, statistics calculators, and decision trees. DynaMed is an evidence-based, clinical resource for diagnosis, treatment, interventions, and drug information. DynaMed editors monitor over 500 medical journals, and the database is updated daily with the best and most current information.

DynaMed provides Levels of Evidence and Grades of Recommendation.

i) MEDLINE Complete In MEDLINE Complete you can search for a topic or journal article using text words, author, date range, and other search parameters.

MEDLINE Complete includes full text articles from over 2,000 journals. Look for the PDF icon to identify titles that are available as full text. MEDLINE Complete includes full text articles from over 2,000 journals.

Full text articles can be downloaded directly from the website.

j) UpToDate UpToDate is a clinical decision support tool for physicians. PNWU students and on-campus teaching faculty have access to its articles and images. (Personal user accounts must be verified every 90 days by logging in through the library website.)

UpToDate includes: The equivalent of over 77,000 pages of original, peer-reviewed text Drug database and drug interactions program (in partnership with Lexi- Comp®), including adult, pediatric, international and natural drugs with drug-to-drug, drug-to-herb, and herb-to-herb interactions “What’s New” by specialty (summary of important findings since the last release) Patient information: “The Basics,” and “Beyond the Basics,” tailored to address patient questions at different levels

k) Database Apps Several of the Library’s databases have mobile apps for iOS and Android. Log in through the proxy to create an account linking your mobile apps to PNWU’s subscriptions. See the Database Apps page for more information, or click on the next to the database title.

3) Journals: Full Text Finder Click the source link in the Full Text Access list to get to the publisher’s website, where you can search the archives. To find journal titles available through the PNWU Library, use the Full Text Finder. Full Text Finder also displays links to the library’s eBooks, and to free, open-access journals and books. Most of our fee-based resources can be accessed from off campus through the proxy unless otherwise indicated.

4) Images and Video Images – This section includes links to licensed (fee-based) and free, searchable image collections, as well as information about using and properly attributing online images. Videos – Links to Acland’s Video Atlas of Human Anatomy, OMT videos, and other resources.
