The Arrangement of the Universe

Where exactly do we live? We live in: The universe The Milky Way A Solar System An Inner Planet And THE EARTH!

The Universe Universe – Its everything out there – space and all of the energy in it. There are many theories of how the universe started including: The Big Bang The Oscillating/Big Squeeze Steady State Within the universe there are many things called galaxies, for example our galaxy, the Milky Way.

Galaxies Galaxy – A group of millions or billions of stars held together by gravity. Most of a galaxy is empty space. Our planet, and solar system are located in the Milky Way Galaxy. Galaxies contain many solar systems, our solar system is just a small part of the Milky Way. Our universe contains billions of galaxies.

Solar System Solar System – The Sun and the other objects such as planets, satellites, and asteroids. The Sun is the center of our solar system. Eight planets, numerous satellites, dwarf planets, and other objects all orbit the Sun. The Sun is the only star in our solar system. Our solar system is very small, if it were the size of a penny, the Milky Way would be from Dallas to Chicago.

Earth Home sweet home! About 8,000 miles in diameter Has one natural satellite that we call the Moon. Our planet orbits the Sun. Orbit – the path of an object in space as it moves around another object because of gravity.
