What is a Neighbourhood Plan? YOUR community-led planning document Guides and shapes the future development, regeneration and conservation of an area Can set out visions, aims, planning policies, proposals for our area Will form one of the ‘suite’ of planning documents, alongside N.P.P.F. and Local Plan Will have statutory (legal) force when finished

What will the NP not do? Stop development! We have to accommodate at least the scale of housing identified for Broadclyst in the East Devon Local Plan Stand still! The Neighbourhood Plan will cover an anticipated period of around 15 years once adopted.

Exploring issues in our area 1. Economy 2. Housing 3. Local community and services 4. Transport, accessibility and communications 5.Recreation, Leisure and Sport 6. Natural Environment 7. Built environment 8. Energy, low carbon, waste and minerals

Exploring issues in our area 1. Economy (including employment / jobs, employment land, retail, tourism) 2. Housing (including affordable /social housing, scale of development and potential, demand, need, type)

Exploring issues in our area 3. Local community and services (including demographic characteristics, education, young peoples’ needs, older peoples’ needs, local services, safety and crime, health and wellbeing) 4. Transport, accessibility and communications (including walking, cycling, public transport, community transport, traffic and roads, ICT / broadband / 3G & 4G)

Exploring issues in our area 5. Recreation, Leisure and Sport (including parks, open spaces, leisure and recreation opportunities, providing for sport, playgrounds, multi-use games areas, wheel parks, culture, the arts) 6. Natural Environment (including landscape character, biodiversity, wildlife, habitat, agricultural land, flood risk)

Exploring issues in our area 7. Built environment (including design, heritage sites, historic built environment) 8. Energy, low carbon, waste and minerals (including energy efficiency, low carbon energy, security of energy supply, cost of energy, waste, minerals)

Done: Neighbourhood area designated (Parish minus strategic developments e.g. Cranbrook) Steering Group established, project plan, awareness raising and initial publicity In progress: Building the Evidence Base, Community engagement & involvement To come: Themes, Aims, and Visions Then: The Plan is made!

Getting involved? The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group meets monthly. Its tasks include: Gathering information on existing services, facilities and policies which affect us Carrying out parish-wide residents survey this summer Talking to the local community about the things that are important Draft policies for consultation Prepare Plan for submission to EDDC
