Presentation transcript:

Get Involved in the PTA to make our school better Friends of Stoke Mandeville Combined School It’s good for your children You are your children‘s most important role model. Showing you value their education will teach them to value it as well. Research has shown that children whose parents are involved in their school get better results and have fewer disciplinary problems. It’s good for you At PTA meetings you can have your say. You can raise concerns, suggest ideas and input into how funds are spent. You will meet like- minded people and make new friends. It’s not all hard work, there is a social side too. Whether you want to organise an event or simply help on the day , you can utilise your existing skills & hobbies, and most likely acquire new ones too! It’s good for the school Schools are becoming more and more dependent on PTA’s for fundraising revenue to supplement the school budget. You will play an important role in helping the school acquire key resources ,reward the children with some well-earned treats, as well as giving children fun & great school memories.

Friends of Stoke Mandeville Combined School Would you like the opportunity to help raise funds and be involved with activities at Stoke Mandeville Combined School…? Then why not join the Friends of Stoke Mandeville Combined School. The Friends is a Committee made up by a voluntary group of parents/carers. We aim to improve school life by both raising funds and offering support to school activities. Joining the Friends, is a great way to get to know others within the school and to know that you are helping to contribute towards improving our children’s school life and learning experience. In the past we have raised funds and organised the following activities: Helped fund the school minibus Purchased 15 Learnpads Purchased Mathletics Annual subscription for all children in KS2 (online maths resource) and a 1-day maths workshop for the whole school Purchased Books for the school Purchased Lockers for the Year 5 & 6 Classes and Furniture for the Reception Class Funded line markings in the playground and playtime games equipment Provided gifts for Year 6 leavers Funded new sports kits and sports equipment/nets etc. Funded a shed and small green house for the gardening club Funded the coach to take the children to the Pantomime and provided a contribution towards the coaches for the school Choir to attend the Young Voices Concert at the O2 Arena Provided treats for the children at Christmas and Easter Arranged the Summer and Christmas Fayres Arranged School Discos, after school Ice Cream Sales, an Easter Treasure Hunt and a number of Family Bingo Evenings We always welcome new members to the Committee and no matter how much time you can spare, as the saying goes “many hands make light work”!
