Mission-based…Honest…Competitive. 2012 2012 Cherokee Junior Warriors

Welcome CJWF Education Parent/Coach Communication Player & Coach Safety Program Investments CJWF Communication Portals Q/A Varsity Head Coach - Josh Shaw

CJWF “Who are we..” Cherokee Junior Warrior Football is a competitive youth football organization who provides 6th – 8th graders who reside in the Cherokee High School district an opportunity to learn, develop skills and techniques needed to play at the next level. True feeder program to Cherokee High School Competitive League and not Recreational Playtime is not guaranteed; playtime is at the coach’s discretion. Representation on the Touchdown Club Board Direct Partnership with the Varsity Football Program Junior Warrior Parents are selected to run the concession stand and spirit wear shop for the Friday Night Home Varsity Games. First we ask for volunteers, then we make selections. Failure to report to this duty may result in losing your equipment deposit check.

Education The Cherokee Junior Warrior Football Organization encourages its players’ to pursue academic excellence by meeting or, preferably, exceeding team standards. The Organization is committed to supporting and encouraging its student athletes. CJWF supports the GMSAA in helping to educate and prepare players concerning the “No Pass-No Play Rule” that is used in the middle schools under the Georgia Board of Education Rule 160-5-1-19, Grade 6-8 Competitive Interscholastic Activities. CJWF provides Tutoring every Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 in Room #821. Grades may be tracked with progress reports. Simply put: Failing = No Participation, No Playing. Period. Dir. Ed, Jemina Harris (jdharris01@windstream.net)

Parent/Coach Communication CJWF welcomes parent and coach communication and recognizes that it needs to be a healthy relationship thorough the year, however we ask that all parents use their best judgment when approaching any coach and just consider the scenario under the situation you have decided to approach them. Please use comment sense and remove any tempers when approaching a coach. Always include the Head Coach first if approaching an Assistant Coach. Attempts to get the coach’s attention from the stands will not be tolerated. Remember the coaches are volunteers.

Player & Coach Safety The Game Day Field and the Practice Field are absolutely off limits to the parents. No exceptions. Excessive Badgering of any coach during a game or practice will not be tolerated. Offense #1 – Warning Offense #2 – Asked to stand outside of the gated areas around the Practice Field or outside of the Stadium on Game Day. Offense #3 – The Police will be called. Aggressive acts towards a coach, player or another parent will result in immediate police involvement and banned for the season. Throwing items onto the field during a Game will result in an immediate ejection from the school property.
