BACKGROUND Name of the project: Developing Farmers towards Food and Income Security (DeFar)  Location : Damot Sore, Boloso Sore, Soddo Zuria (Wolayita Zone), Bonke, Ditta, Boreda, Kamba (Gamo Gofa Zone) in SNNPRS  Overall Goal To contribute to food secure and economically stable communities in the project woredas in Wolayita and Gamo Gofa Zones of SNNPRS. Type of irrigation: household micro Irrigation for backyard gardening  

Background con… Objectives 160 self-help groups consisting of 3,200 farmer households are established, self-reliant and involved in development of their communities.  3,200 farmer households (70% female) have sufficient nutritious food, access to water, and the capacity to manage natural resources; 3,200 farmer households (70% female) are generating sustainable incomes from produce, marketing and self-employment;

- Equal access & control/benefit over land, water, food & income; OUTCOME Equitable access & opportunities (70% women) 1. Integration of women’s & men’s concerns in all Project cycle - Equal access & control/benefit over land, water, food & income; -Women’s decision making & participation in leadership -Harmonious relation at HH Engender irrigation STRATEGY: Twin-track 2.
