Try to think: What is body language? What is the purpose of body language?

Body language Body language is a kind of nonverbal communication, where thoughts, intentions, or feelings are expressed by physical behaviors, such as facial expression, body posture, gestures, eye movement, touch and the use of space. Body language exists in both animals and humans, but here we just focus on interpretations of human body language.

Skimming When you skim a passage before you read it, you can get a general idea of it. Skimming means looking at titles and headings, pictures and diagrams, and certain sentences in a passage (such as the first and last sentence.) This takes only a minute or two. When skimming a passage, look for clues to what it is about. It is useful to ask yourself questions with who, what, when, where, why and how.

List the body languages between Debbie and Simon Name Body language Outcome Debbie Simon Sit up and hold head up, look at people’s eyes, always smile, turn head or body towards customers, greet cheerfully Look friendly, make others feel welcome Rest head on hand, look downwards, never smile, never turn head or body towards customers Look unfriendly, make others go away

D2 He didn’t look happy because people always preferred Bebbie to him. Communicating is speaking, listening and body language. Debbie’s body language makes them feel welcome. His body language tells people to go away. A girl entered and sat down opposite him without hesitation. The girl was Simon’s sister.
