MINISTERIAL MEETING 2018: Ministerial meeting at IIASA to reaffirm the importance of a larger and more global IIASA that: uses science to bridge geo-political divides, uses systems analysis to bridge academic disciplinary divides, and applies its research to bridge science to policy divides. 1994: Ministerial meeting at IIASA reaffirms the importance of IIASA as an international and interdisciplinary research institute and endorses its strategy to become truly global in its research focus and membership

YOUNG SYSTEMS THINKERS CONFERENCE Purpose To explore the latest advances in systems science and its application Organization To be independently organized by a group of mid-career IIASA researchers Format Contributed papers from both IIASA and external researchers with a focus on young mid-career scientists. All presenters will also be offered the possibility of presenting a poster at the Anniversary Conference on the following two days. Four 1.5-hour time slots with up to five parallel sessions per slot (up to 120x15 minute slots available)

BRIDGING DIVIDES: HARNESSING THE POWER OF SYSTEMS THINKING Opening Session (120 minutes) Welcome by dignitaries (15 minutes) 2 x Keynote lectures (1 IIASA and 1 external) – 20 minutes each Panel Discussion (5 panelists) – 5 minutes each followed by 40 minutes moderated discussion Conference Sessions (90 minutes each) 2 x Framing talks (1 IIASA and 1 external) – 15 minutes each Panel Discussion (4 panelists: 2 x IIASA and 2 external) – 7 minutes each followed by 30 minutes moderated discussion Closing Session (90 minutes) Panel Discussion Poster Session Posters to be displayed for the duration of the conference with authors to ‘stand at their posters’ on two separate occasions during the scheduled conference breaks

HOW NMOs CAN HELP Provide comments on the conference outline (Nov ‘16) Suggest speakers for the conference (by 31 March ‘17) Help raise awareness about the conference in your country (ongoing from 1 April ‘17 to conference dates) Bring a large delegation to the conference Fund the travel of young scientists from your country to participate Exhibit at the conference (e.g. to publicize programs/activities for system scientists that you may have in your country)
