Introduction How has Samuel Taylor Coleridge changed the romantic movement? Samuel Taylor Coleridge Thesis statement -Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the head and master of the romantic movement. He is a man known for his romantic poems and ways of poetry. Samuel Taylor Coleridge was born on October 21, 1772, in Devonshire, England. The ways of poetry he discovered are very romantic, that he instilled the romance in his readers. He is a father of 4 children, but his children lived with their mother the most. His father, Reverend John Coleridge, was a master of a grammar school and his father is also a reason for him being the key of romanticism. William Wordsworth is a friend of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, a romantic poet, and he also boosted Samuel Taylor Coleridge into becoming a great poet. Samuel Coleridge is who played a huge role into developing the romantic movement, him and his colleagues were like the rap artists of their time. (Academy of American Poets, 1) www. Poets.org

Early Life Father dies Hated sports Childhood stories Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s father, the Reverend John Coleridge, dies. He is sent to Christ's Hospital, a London boarding school that gives free education to orphans. Samuel Taylor Coleridge said that he "took no pleasure in boyish sports" but instead read a lot over his playing time and when he played, he played by himself. Education Starts school Changes Begins university College At the age of three, Samuel starts school at Dame Key's Reading School. He than attends Henry VIII Free Grammar School in Ottery St. Mary. The hardest thing in his life comes, entering university, while his father was dead and him trying his best to enter college. Cambridge university is what he got in and it wasn’t a simple university, at that time William Wordsworth just graduated from it. Later life Travels to the Mediterranean Separation Addiction Rehab -Samuel Taylor Coleridge travels to Malta and Italy, hoping that the climate will improve his health. He plans on a journey of six months. He is gone for two years. -When he returned he didn’t meet up with his wife and they separated, but they didn’t divorce. He continued on with supporting her. -He was addicted to the painkiller he used for chronic pain and he never stopped. -He contacted a doctor and he asked that he wanted to stop. Conclusion Samuel Taylor Coleridge is a man that consisted his life for romantic poetry. The life of Samuel Coleridge and a brief explanation of his biography. The only thing that stopped him from being the best is the drugs. The romantic movement was changed after his accomplishments.
